I worked at Cambridge. Two weeks ago our corporate structure (Cambridge used to be a chain) sent a guy to the shop just to "check it out." He returned last Monday morning and told us that at 6 PM on Monday, we would be closing for good.

At this time we found out that, according to him, he had been sent the week before to find out what was wrong with the shop so that there would be a reason to shut us down. When he returned and informed the big shots that nothing was wrong, business was just slow in the summer, they essentially said "Screw them, go shut 'em down."

Also according to this guy, the hot dog shop won't happen. They are, however, holding on to the location to reopen at some point. What will it be? Nobody knows. That decision will be made at the whim of one man in Atlanta. It's possible that it will reopen again as Cambridge Coffee. I doubt it. Whatever it becomes, I would encourage everyone to avoid it like the plague until it is no longer under the ownership of these people. They put seven people out of work with less than 8 hours' notice. They eventually told us that we would receive an extra week of pay for helping to clean the shop up, but it looks like they will screw us over on that front as well.

If anyone knows of any jobs for a skilled barista (other than Starbucks) please let me know. I have been doing this for four years now, and I would like to continue.
