Well….you need to contact the rest of the the shops cause some of the info you have is not right……I am a long time customer of Taylor’s Bakery and Coffee Shop….they are almost 11 years old…everything is baked on site…fresh roasted beans…free internet… they are the oldest shop in town…you can walk to the shop from campus….they are open everyday at 7am and most of the week they are open till 1am…they do stay open the lastest…Jan is one of only a few professional barristas in town…she has the training that’s why they get all the new and good stuff….

But you also need to fix up a few of the other shops too…cause I think you did miss a few!

    Thank you!

It’s so wonderful to have an open forum about coffee and espresso in the community. Many thanks to the people who created this site.

I do want to dispel the notion that there are only a few qualified baristas in Auburn and Opelika. I know that I am one among many who have been trained properly in the art of brewing quality espresso. Auburn baristas are doing their best to keep it real!

    Thank you again,
    H

Taylor’s may have the best pastries in town, and Jan may be one of only a few professional BAKERS in town, but they don’t know jack about coffee.

recently i watched one of their “professional” baristas make an iced latte without even touching the espresso machine. they poured it straight out of a pitcher that was kept refrigerated. any barista worth their salt knows an espresso shot spoils after about 20 seconds … and lord knows how long that swill had been sitting in the fridge.

Out of all the ones I have tried, and I’ve tried allot, Toomer’s is the best yet. There love of coffee borderlines obsession, and that is what it takes to make the best damn cup in town. Not to mention the Baristas are some pretty cool cats. With Free wi-fi, and since it isn’t write on campus, you don’t get allot of congestion of people. Its a great place to just chill and read or sketch, and I love the atmosphere.

They have the BEST coffee in town and the best personality. They are friendly and willing to please. They always have new dishes, the atmosphere is down home Auburn, and it just always feels like home.

    Thanks Toomers!

Yah, Toomer’s is pretty amazing. They are the only shop in town that roasts here in the Auburn/Opelika area and their baristas seem to really know their stuff. Especially that one guy with the long red hair who has been there forever. Dog and Pony makes a great cup of coffee too. They get their beans out of Birmingham at Primavera. My favorite part about their shop is the fact that they fresh press everything. As a newer shop their staff still seems to be getting up to speed sometimes on the shots but they always have great personality. But ya if you want amazing espresso and a place to hang out, Toomers, fresh press and a corner to hide in, D&P.

Got something to say?
